Breed-specific legislation banning or restricting certain dog breeds has been widely criticized by animal welfare experts and veterinary organizations.
BSL causes enormous suffering through forced separation of dogs from families, mass euthanasia of targeted breed dogs, and the inability of shelters to adopt out affected animals. Evidence consistently shows BSL fails to improve public safety while causing preventable dog deaths. Breed-neutral dangerous dog policies are more effective and humane.
