Fibrosarcoma is an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma in dogs requiring wide surgical margins and often radiation therapy to achieve long-term control.
Fibrosarcoma recurrence after inadequate initial surgery subjects dogs to repeated procedures, each with associated pain, anesthesia risk, and healing time. Radical initial surgery - though more daunting - prevents these welfare costs downstream. Palliative care focusing on comfort and quality of life is appropriate when curative intent surgery is not feasible.
