Regular mobility assessment in senior dogs enables early intervention with physiotherapy before mobility deficits become severe and harder to reverse.
Senior dogs that are simply described as moving slowly or acting their age may have significant, treatable mobility impairments that are being normalized. Physiotherapy that maintains muscle mass and joint range of motion extends the period during which dogs can engage in activities they find rewarding. Early intervention before severe muscle atrophy or joint changes develop is far more effective.
