Pressure wraps including Thundershirts have variable evidence for anxiety reduction in dogs with some individuals responding well.
Anxiety wraps represent a low-risk, potentially beneficial addition to anxiety management without drug side effects. For dogs that respond, they provide non-pharmacological relief during anxiety-provoking situations. For non-responders, the wrap is simply ineffective rather than harmful. The welfare calculus favors trial in anxious dogs given the risk-free profile. However, relying on wraps as the sole intervention for significant anxiety delays implementation of more effective behavioral and pharmacological treatments.
