Grouper farming is significant in Asia, particularly in tropical regions, but the welfare needs of these predatory fish in intensive aquaculture are poorly understood.
Grouper welfare in aquaculture is poorly studied relative to their farming significance. Their predatory nature and territorial instincts are difficult to accommodate in intensive systems. Better understanding of their specific welfare needs is urgently required.
