Research into wild animal suffering requires prioritisation to guide interventions, with scale, tractability, and neglectedness guiding resource allocation across causes.
Wild animal suffering research is at an early stage but growing. Identifying which interventions are most tractable and beneficial requires combining population biology with welfare science. Supporting rigorous research in this area now, even before interventions are ready, is a valuable contribution to the eventual possibility of reducing wild suffering.
