Assistance dogs for disability support, medical alert, and therapy have specific welfare needs arising from their working roles and deployment contexts.
Assistance dogs provide invaluable services but cannot advocate for their own welfare needs within working relationships. Organizations deploying assistance dogs have welfare obligations extending from puppy development through working life to dignified retirement.
