Porcine proliferative enteropathy (ileitis) is a common pig disease causing production losses and welfare compromise through intestinal inflammation.
Pigs with ileitis experience abdominal pain, weight loss, and in acute cases haemorrhagic diarrhoea and sudden death. Good veterinary herd health management and preventive vaccination reduce prevalence and associated welfare impacts.
