Urban foxes coexist with human populations and face welfare challenges from traffic, disease, mange, and persecution.
Mange causes terrible suffering in foxes with intense itching, hair loss, and eventual death. Urban foxes injured on roads require wildlife rescue intervention. Lethal management rarely achieves population goals while causing individual suffering. Supporting mange treatment programmes directly improves fox welfare.
