Okapis are forest giraffids confined to the Congo Basin. Their welfare depends on intact rainforest habitats and protection from hunting in an area of significant political instability.
Okapi welfare monitoring is severely constrained by access difficulties in the DRC. Supporting partner organisations with in-country capacity, funding ranger training, and advocating for political support for conservation are the primary welfare interventions accessible to international supporters.
