Wildlife trafficking interception is only the first step - surviving animals face major welfare challenges requiring specialist care.
Trafficked animals experience extreme stress, physical trauma and social isolation. Many have been separated from mothers as infants, with lifelong behavioural consequences. Recovery requires species-appropriate care, gradual habituation and, where possible, preparation for release. Some individuals cannot be released safely.
