Wolverines are wide-ranging carnivores with large territory requirements that are extremely challenging to meet in zoo settings.
Wolverines in standard zoo enclosures show severe welfare problems reflecting chronic environmental inadequacy. Their requirement for vast territories, cold climate and solitude means the species is nearly impossible to keep well in conventional zoo settings. Honest assessment of feasibility and willingness to phase out wolverine keeping where welfare cannot be achieved is appropriate.
