Marsh warblers are rare summer migrants that have declined severely in the UK, with their complex habitat needs being difficult to maintain.
The welfare of marsh warblers in the UK is compromised by near-complete loss of suitable breeding habitat. The few remaining pairs breed in a small number of managed sites. Habitat management creating dense, diverse herbaceous wetland vegetation is the only meaningful welfare and conservation intervention for this species in the UK.
