Spectacled caimans are the most common crocodilian in the Americas and are sometimes kept in zoological collections. Their welfare needs include appropriate water temperature, space, and diet.
Caiman welfare requires appropriate thermal management and feeding enrichment. Facilities that cannot maintain warm water temperatures and provide adequate space cannot meet basic caiman welfare requirements.
