Welfare Considerations

Tourist camels subjected to continuous riding without adequate rest, shade, and water develop exhaustion, dehydration, and musculoskeletal injuries. The kneeling position required for mounting and dismounting is stressful when performed repeatedly with inadequate time between. Working camels used in agriculture without access to veterinary care develop untreated injuries and dental disease. Racing camels trained from a very young age face training-related injuries and stress before their musculoskeletal system matures.
