Intensive supportive care for canine parvovirus dramatically improves survival rates with significant welfare implications.
Parvovirus causes severe haemorrhagic diarrhoea, vomiting, and systemic toxicity causing intense suffering. Intensive hospital care significantly reduces both mortality and duration of suffering. Financial barriers that prevent intensive treatment cause preventable welfare deterioration. Prevention through vaccination is infinitely preferable.
