Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) causes progressive immune suppression and cancer in affected cats. Vaccination and preventing exposure through managing outdoor access are the most effective prevention strategies.
FeLV causes progressive immune failure, anaemia, and cancer that significantly reduces quality and length of life in affected cats. Prevention through vaccination and limiting exposure by managing outdoor access is far more effective than treating established infection. Vaccinating outdoor cats and testing any new cats before introducing them to FeLV-negative individuals prevents most transmission events.
