Mechanical removal timed during breeding seasons can destroy nesting habitats. Biological control agents — insects or fungi deployed to control invasive plants — raise the same invertebrate welfare questions as other large-scale invertebrate impacts. At the same time, restoration of native plant communities through invasive management improves the long-term habitat quality and food resource availability for native wildlife — a significant welfare benefit.
