Early socialisation to sounds during puppyhood can prevent the development of noise phobia, a common and distressing condition in adult dogs.
Noise phobia causes intense fear responses including trembling, panting, hiding, and destructive behaviour. Prevention through early habituation is far more effective than treating established phobias. Breeding from noise-sensitive parents perpetuates the problem in future generations.
