Overview of welfare management for senior cats with multiple concurrent chronic conditions.
Senior cat welfare is frequently complicated by multiple concurrent chronic conditions that require integrated management. Hyperthyroidism and concurrent CKD are a classic example where treatment of one condition affects management of the other. Quality of life assessment provides a framework for monitoring welfare across all conditions and guiding appropriate management intensity. Palliative care planning from early in disease management improves welfare at every stage.
