Shark finning - removing fins at sea and discarding the still-living shark - remains one of the world's most cruel wildlife practices, threatening shark populations and marine ecosystem health.
Shark finning causes extreme suffering - sharks are finned alive and thrown back into the sea unable to swim, drowning or bleeding to death. This practice is ethically unacceptable by any welfare standard. Consumer demand reduction is the most powerful intervention.
