Caged farmed rabbits experience severe welfare deprivation. Wire cage floors cause foot sores. Isolation of solitary caging prevents normal social behaviour. Inability to run and jump causes physical deterioration and frustration. Respiratory disease is endemic in intensive production systems. The high reproductive rate means welfare problems are multiplied across enormous numbers of animals.
