Welfare Considerations

Welfare priorities in the first 24-72 hours include anti-nausea medication, a quiet low-stimulation environment, assisted feeding and drinking, and prevention of self-injury from falling. Owner education about the high rate of spontaneous recovery is critical to prevent premature euthanasia decisions.
