Pain Management in Pig Castration: Current Standards

Surgical castration of piglets without adequate pain relief remains common in many countries. Evidence-based pain management protocols can substantially reduce suffering during and after the procedure.

The practical barriers cited by producers (time, cost, skills) are surmountable with appropriate training and veterinary support.
