Reed warblers are obligate reedbed specialists that have benefited from wetland restoration but remain vulnerable to reedbed loss and fragmentation.
Reed warbler welfare depends on continued restoration and maintenance of reedbeds. Fragmented reedbed patches cannot support viable populations. Reedbed drainage for agriculture or development destroys irreplaceable habitat for this and many other wetland species.
