Savi's warbler is a secretive migratory reed warbler dependent on large continuous reedbeds for breeding and its welfare is threatened by wetland loss across Europe.
Loss and fragmentation of reedbeds across Europe has eliminated Savi's warbler from many historical breeding sites. Remaining birds face pressures from reed cutting management that does not account for breeding bird timings, water level instability and mink predation. Climate change is altering the timing of reedbed productivity relative to the breeding season.
