Habitat welfare includes the availability of dense vegetation for predator escape cover, burrowable banks for nesting and hibernation, and sufficient food plants for year-round grazing. Mink control through trapping requires sustained commitment — a single reproductive pair of mink reinvading a cleared area can re-establish a population rapidly.
